VC’S WIFE UNFOLDS AGENDA FOR FUNAI UNIVERSITY WOMEN
The wife of the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Ndufu Alike (FUNAI), Dr. Mrs. C hinyere Nwanjiuba, has unfolded a five -point agenda for the upliftment of all the female staff of the university.
Dr. Mrs. Nwajiuba, who was addressing the female staff under the auspices of FUNAI University Women Association in a maiden meeting with them, listed the agenda she would pursue to include education, wellness, development, leadership and diversities.
She said plans are on to acquire land within the University premises for the building of Early Childhood Development Centre and Skills Acquisition Centre, adding that the Early Childhood Development Centre would comprise crèche, nursery and kindergarten facilities.
Dr. Mrs. Nwajiuba commended their predecessor Barr. Mrs Sola Ibidapo-Obe and her husband the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. O. Ibidapo-Obe for their pioneering role and vision to commence a crèche and assured that the vision would be sustained .
Mrs. Nwajiuba who steps in as the Chairperson of FUNAI University Women Association thanked the women of the University for the warm reception accorded her and her husband since their arrival describing their mission in FUNAI as God-ordained.
She noted that both the female and male staff of the institution had demonstrated love, warmth and affection to them and promised to reciprocate their kind gesture through producing results.
In her remarks, the Secretary of the Association, Dr. Mrs Benedette Okezie, welcomed their new Chairperson, Dr. Mrs Nwajiuba and assured her of the support of the University women.
The post of the Vice Chairperson of association which became vacant as a result of the death of the incumbent, Professor Lucy Ekwueme, was filled through the election of Dr. Mrs Kate Nwankwo.
A minute silence was observed for the repose of the soul of the late Vice Chairperson, Prof. Lucy Ekwueme.
