The Vice-President of the National Universities Games Association (NUGA), Mr. Emeka Ogbu who doubles as the secretary, South-East Universities Games Association (SUEGA), on Thursday, 6th March, 2019, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba in his conference room. His mission was on how to invigorate sports system in the Nigerian universities, especially in the southeast region.

Receiving the guests, the Vice-Chancellor noted that sports in Nigeria and the Diasporawas expensive and involved a lot of money, adding that to revive sports in universities also required much money. He however, noted that efforts would be made to renovate the existing facilities in the university to contain the scheduled activities of the organ.

He consented to the request of the body to approve two contingents from AEFUNAI to Italy in this years’ NUGA sports festival.

Earlier, Mr. Emeka Ogbu noted that students should be exposed to thorough sporting activities as part of effort towards actualizing saleable skills and achieving self-reliance in job hunt.

The head of sports unit, AEFUNAI, Yinka Olawonyin,stated that activities to brace up students competence in sports world has been streamlined and scheduled to take place from 20th March 2019.

He noted that the activities included inter-faculty/departments to stimulate students and staff interests in sporting activities.
