AE-FUNAI STUDENTS DECIDE AS NEW SUG PRESIDENT EMERGE
- New president vows to stamp out social vices
Students of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, yesterday, decided at the polling booths, chose their 2019/2020 President and other officers . The election was peaceful, free and fair as students came out en masse to vote their choice candidate without rancor.
Speaking after the declaration and announcement of the result, the Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Otu Akanu Otu explained that the success recorded before, during and after the students election was as the result of the enduring peace the students have been enjoying under the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba.
Chima Solomon Chijioke, President-elect, AE-FUNAI Students Union Government, during an interview with a Public Relations/Information Officer, said that he was overwhelmed with joy as his fears of rigging and violence were allayed by the high level preparedness of the electoral committee who were on hand to deliver their rightful candidates.
Speaking further, Chima affirmed his passion to as a matter of sincerity, serve AE-FUNAI Students with brazen openness and clarity of purpose. He said that effort will be intensified by his administration to foster good relationship with the management and students of AE-FUNAI.
The Ebonyi state born political science student and Faculty/Departmental Rep, (Management/Social Science and Political Sciences respectively was grateful to Dean, Student Affairs and the electoral umpire for the outcome of the elections and congratulated his opponents for showing sportsmanship in students’ polity. Other students were also elected into positions in the SUG.
To ensure that the election went peacefully, a team of monitors led by DVC Academic, Prof. Sunday Elom and accompanied by DVC Administration, Prof. Philip Omoke went round polling units during vote casting.
