ABOUT THE MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
The Mass Communication Department is one of the leading departments in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences (a.k.a. the Global Faculty).
The Mass Communication Department of Alex Ekwueme Federal University is the ideal place for the study of Mass Communication for many reasons. Our curriculum is internationalized to meet global best practices and we boast of a crop of experienced and committed academic staff whose passion is to raise an excellent generation of graduates that are globally competitive. We also have a commitment to build a Department with an international outlook that presents excellent prospects for the students.
We are not just interested in good grades, we offer personal support to ensure the emotional and psychological well-being of our students and to grow their skills and self-confidence.
In the Mass Communication Dept we are family. Our spirit of community provides for our students an enabling environment of ‘home away from home’. Our social activities are carefully selected and designed to promote cohesion and team work and prepare students for easy integration into the larger society on graduation.
We are committed to graduating men and women who have been involved in community services exemplified in our annual “Green day” program that encourages tree planting activities by staff and students within the AE FUNAI and the host community. Such community services encourage students to acquire, absorb and internalize the culture of service in the larger society on graduation.
The department also strives to empower our graduates with analytical skills, wisdom and a strong personality profile with which they can confidently compete to gain opportunities and win legitimacy in today’s contentious world.
We are committed to graduating upwardly mobile men and women who are energized to embark on post graduate work and research and are poised to also make impact in the academia.
Finally, in line with the broad AE FUNAI goal, the Mass Communication Dept is a forward thinking department that believes in the transformative power of education. We also believe in the development of our staff and students.
