Dr. Okanlawon O. Adediji was appointed the University Librarian of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (FUNAI) on May 05, 2015. Prior to the appointment, he was a Visiting Librarian and later, on sabbatical in FUNAI between August, 2013 and May, 2015. He joined the services of the University of Lagos on March 01, 1978 as Librarian II and rose through the ranks to attaining the headship in 2007 as the Acting University Librarian. He has had over 35 years of library experience which spans all the facets of Academic Librarianship.
Dr. Adediji attended University of Ibadan and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany in 1975 and Master of Library studies in 1977. He proceeded to University of Pittsburgh, USA and obtained Master of Science in Information Science in 1983 and a Doctorate in 1987.
Dr. Adediji is widely travelled and has held high positions of responsibilities within and outside his professional callings and which have afforded him the opportunities to demonstrate his innate high leadership qualities and management skills. He had been and still a member of several University Committees which he has leveraged upon to better understanding of University systems and governance. He has to his credit, over twenty-six publications; books and articles published in national and international journals.
The various trainings and exposures have well-endowed him and engendered his interest in the application of Information Technology to Library Services. He developed competencies in a wide and varied forms of Library Management Systems particularly TINLIB, Graphical Library Automation Systems (GLAS), Millennium, KOHA, Greenstone, Alice, X-Lib, eGranary, My-i-Library etc. His current area of interest is Information Retrieval Systems and Accessibility.
