The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, on Friday, 26th February, 2016 officially assumed duty in the University.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mosto Onuoha, presented the briefs of the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibidapo-Obe, to Professor Nwajiuba to signal his official assumption of duty as the second Vice Chancellor of the University.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor thanked God for his appointment and expressed his joy for the rousing reception he received from the principal officers and other members of staff.
Professor Nwajiuba promised that he would accomplish his God-given purpose as the Vice Chancellor of the University by taking FUNAI to greater heights and charged staff to continue to discharge their duties with utmost efficiency.
Welcoming the Vice Chancellor earlier, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Gabriel O. Chukwu, expressed joy on the appointment of Professor Nwajiuba as the Vice Chancellor of the University and pledged the unalloyed support of the entire staff to him in making the University a force to be reckoned with in the academic world.
The high point of the ceremony was the dedication of the office and tenure of Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba to God by the Anglican Bishop of Ikwo, Rt. Reverend Ken. C. Ifemene, who prayed God to give him good success during his tenure.
Bishop Ifemene also prayed for peace in the University and cordial working relationships between the University Management and newly constituted University Governing Council, staff and other stakeholders of the University.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Nwajiuba was later conducted round the offices by the Registrar, Mr. G. O. Chukwu
Professor Nwajuba is taking over from the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibidapo-Obe, whose five-year tenure expired on February 15th, 2016.
